Today's reading: Revelation 7-11

"Their power was in their mouths..." Revelation 9:19 NLT

John is allowing us to see his revelation through his written word.

In this verse he captures the second terror prophesied, the horses and riders. He mentions the smoke and burning sulphur which billowed from them.

It caught my eye that he wrote, 'their power was in their mouths'.

Maybe it didn't catch my eye, but prick my heart.

Maybe it didn't prick my heart, but heap coals of conviction onto my soul.

I am the very first to forget how very powerful what comes out of our mouths can be.

The power of life or death.

Blessings or curses.

Encouragement or discouragement.

Good or evil.

And to use the imagery of a horse? My absolute favorite animal? One which has strength in its neck and legs--but its mouth is mentioned?

Quite the word picture for this girl to think on today!
