OUR DEPENDENCE
Today's reading: James 4-5
"When you bow down before the Lord and admit your dependence on him, he will lift you up and give you honor." James 4:10 NLT
I've attempted to jot down a list of things I can do on my own. Without God's help.
It's a short list.
I'm really not even sure you can call one item a list.
My one thing: I can mess things up.
But this morning James is telling me, when I come to God, humbly and reverently...
When I let Him know just how big of a mess I can make things...
When I admit how desperately I need Him...
When I put Him back in the right place. A place of honor and glory...
Then He can do a work in me that has His signature all over it.
He, at that point, is willing to take what little I have to offer and mix it with all He can do--and great things can be done.
This morning, that's what I'm doing.
I'm giving all I can't, all I have tried, all I have messed up, all I would really like to fix--and giving it all to Him to do with what only He can.
