GATEKEEPERS
Today's reading: 1 Chronicles 5-9

"These gatekeepers and their descendants, by their divisions, were responsible for guarding the entrance to the house of the Lord, the house that was formerly a tent." 1 Chronicles 9:23 NLT

Imagine with me being the first generation of gatekeepers standing watch over the 'gates of a tent'.

Try as you might, it would have been hard to take your job seriously.

It might have taken all you could have mustered to imagine the importance of your post.

But as you watch your grandchildren and great-grandchildren standing guard at the walled gates of the Temple...

The solidly built house of God...

The hewn stone home of the Holy of Holies...

Wouldn't you be very glad you had taken your appointment with pride and commitment and carried it out with faithfulness?
