OH, TO HAVE THAT HEART
Today's reading: Psalm 84-86
"Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, that I may honor you." Psalm 86:11 NLT
Every morning I wake up and ask God to be with me throughout the day.
To guide and protect me.
To lead me.
To direct my path.
To put His hand over my mouth.
To show me the paths He would have me travel.
But--
Then I get up and out of bed, and I take the reins from His ever capable hands and resume the control, the leadership, the managerial role, the master of my life--and expect Him to follow along.
It doesn't work well. Not well at all.
I want the heart David had when he asked God to teach him His ways.
I want the spirit David sought to maintain when he asked God to grant him a life that honored Him.
I want the attitude David lived that sang out, 'All to Jesus I surrender, All to Him I freely give.'
