A RALLYING POINT
Today's reading: Psalm 60-62
"You have rejected us, O God, and broken our defenses, You have been angry with us; now restore us to your favor. You have shaken our land and split us open. Seal the cracks before it completely collapses. You have been very hard on us, making us drink wine that sent us reeling. But you have raised a banner for those who honor you--a rallying point in the face of attack." Psalm 60:1-4 NLT
God, this is David's prayer, but might I borrow it for my country?
It's moral walls have been broken down by years of neglect and disregard. Things have been allowed that never ever should have been allowed entrance into our land, let alone our hearts and homes.
Your anger for us has simmered, with good reason. We have rejected you. Turned our backs on you. Disobeyed you. Disregarded you.
You have sent enemy armies our way in an effort to turn our hearts back to you. You have shaken us up so that we would find You as our center once again.
The fissure caused by sin is deep and very wide across our nation.
You have been hard on us, but in Your mercy, not nearly as hard as probably You should have been.
And this whole time?
This whole time You have stood ready to accept us back with open arms. You have always been a refuge we can run to, a rock of safety in which we can rest, revive and restore our souls. You have offered what no other does. You provide what no one else can.
Your banner of love beckons us back to You.
