EVENTUALLY
Today's reading: Exodus 17-20
"At the Lord's command, the people of Israel left the Sin Desert and moved from place to place. Eventually they came to Rephidim, but there was no water to be found there." Exodus 17:1 NLT
God could have, using His God-sized powers, transported the two-million plus Israelites, to their new homeland in the blink of His majestic eye. Poof, there they'd be.
He could have had them skip over the forty years of wandering.
He could have obliterated the enemies in the Promised Land, preparing the environment for the new inhabitants with the swipe of His mighty hand.
He could have with the puff of His mighty breath blown away all the trouble in their path and allowed them to walk victoriously within just a few days into their new homeland.
But that wasn't His plan.
He had work to do in their hearts before He could allow them to settle in their new homes. Idols to remove. Self-centeredness to scrub away. Prideful thoughts to wash clean. Independent natures to tame.
Maybe, just maybe, that's why you and I aren't where we'd like to be quite yet either?
Or where He's wanting us to be?
