WHO WILL WIN?
Today's reading: 2 Samuel 1-3

"That was the beginning of a long war between those who had been loyal to Saul and those who were loyal to David. As time passed David became stronger and stronger, while Saul's dynasty became weaker and weaker." 2 Samuel 3:1 NLT

It is said there is an old Cherokee Indian story that goes like this...

An old Cherokee was teaching his grandson about life. 
A fight is going on inside me, he said to the boy. It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil--he is angry, envious, sorrowful, regret filled, greedy, arrogant, guilty, resentful, lying and has a large ego. 
He continued, The other is good--he is loving, peaceful, hope filled, joyous, serene, humble, kind, benevolent, generous, truthful and compassionate. 
The same fight is going on inside you--and inside every other person, too. 
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, Which wolf will win? 
The old Cherokee simply replied, The one you feed.

Things are no different than they were in David's time, or in the time of the North American Indians, there is a battle inside us. A battle of our hearts. A battle for our hearts.

A war.

A scuffle over boundary lines.

A clash to establish loyalty.

A skirmish constantly being waged between what is right and what is wrong.

A fight involving what God's asked you to do and what your carnal side wants to do for itself.

A conflict between godliness and sinfulness.

And the side that will win? It's the one you feed.
