DRAG
Today's reading: Isaiah 4-7

"Destruction is certain for those who drag their sins behind them, tied with cords of falsehood." Isaiah 5:18 NLT

Drag-to draw or pull slowly; to cause to move with slowness or difficulty.

Sure it's easy to see how difficult it might be to walk through life carrying around the weight of sins. The burdens of guilt. The heaviness of a wrong heart.

It's almost a reaction to see this verse in terms of the ungodly, the unsaved, the godless.

But what about those of us who have been saved, redeemed, washed clean--what in the world are we still doing dragging around the history of our sins?

Why are we allowing satan to lie to us about how free we really are?

Why do we keep who we once were, prior to Christ doing His mighty work in our lives, from doing what God asks of us now?

Even Christians are tied with cords of falsehoods, chained to the remembrances of sins. Unworthiness weighs us down. Regrets hold us back. Our pasts keep us from reaching our future because of the extra load our enemy puts on us.

Why when destruction is certain?

Who are we believing? God when He says we are freed and forgiven? Or satan, who says, are you really?
