BECAME
Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 34-36

"All the leaders of the priests and the people became more and more unfaithful. They followed the pagan practices of the surrounding nations, desecrating the Temple of the Lord in Jerusalem." 2 Chronicles 36:14 NLT

Became-to come to be; to come into existence; to undergo change or development.

God's people allowed themselves to 'change according to the times'.

They let society alter them, and their beliefs.

They permitted the world to sneak in on them and make changes that drew them away from God.

They authorized, consented to, condoned and tolerated things God stood against and it did an evil work in their hearts and minds.

They became their neighbors. They became the ungodly. They became the enemies of God.

I have to ask myself, and you in reading this, what are we allowing ourselves to become? What happenings, social events, worldly issues or circumstances are we letting change us? What are we permitting to draw us farther and farther away from God and our faith?
