Today's reading: John 1-3
"He has come from above and is greater than anyone else. I am of the earth, and my understanding is limited to things of the earth, but he has come from heaven." John 3:31 NLT
Greater-notably larger in size; larger in number or measure; more remarkable in magnitude, degree or effectiveness; eminent.
It is said that one cannot fully understand the immensity of God until they realize the frailty of self.
I agree with that. Apparently John the Baptizer agreed with that, too.
John knew that what he could understand, see and figure out was limited to his feet being firmly planted on earth.
God doesn't have that handicap. His view is not blocked of future things. His hands are not tied with frivolities like time, space or abilities. His ways are not dependent upon who reigns, who owns or who acknowledges Him.
He is greater. Greater than we are. Greater than we tend to believe we are. Greater than the greatest humans we know or wish we'd known.
When we come to that realization, He opens up more and more about Himself to us!
Faith expects from God what is beyond all expectation.- Andrew Murray
