ANGUISH
Today's reading: John 13-15

"Now Jesus was in great anguish of spirit, and he exclaimed, The truth is, one of you will betray me!" John 13:21 NLT

Anguish-extreme pain, distress or anxiety; a state of great suffering of body and mind.

It's easy for me to shame Judas for putting Jesus through this emotional distress.

Until...

Until I realize my own sins do the same thing to Him.

When I choose anything over Jesus, I betray Him.

When I opt to select an idol of my heart over Him, I betray Him.

When I turn to the world, or even worse, myself, to fix things for me, I betray Him.

When I betray Him, His heart breaks.

Breaks.

He hurts. He is miserable. He is tortured.

All because of my betrayal.
