LIFE
Today's reading: Leviticus 16-18

"...I have given you the blood so you can make atonement for your sins. It is the blood, representing life, that brings you atonement." Leviticus 17:11 NLT

Life-the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body; a sequence of physical and mental experiences that make up the existence of an individual.

In Levitical times the blood of sacrificial animals was what atoned for sin, covered iniquities and allowed the God-folk to follow His rules.

It took a lot of blood.

Daily sacrifices. Weekly sacrifices. Monthly sacrifices. Seasonal sacrifices. Special holy day sacrifices.

For us, it took Jesus' blood.

Once and for all.

One perfect Man's blood to give us life.

Life, the characteristic that distinguishes us from the dead.
