It means to tell us something has happened prior, before, at the onset of the conversation.

For David, it was that his enemies were chasing him. That they were conspiring against him. That they wanted him dead.

For us, then may be...

After a bad test result from the doctor.

After a prayer has been answered miraculously.

After a very long time not hearing from a prodigal.

After word of the Bible preaching in your church has been talked about in the community.

After watching a saint patiently endure.

...what will it take in our lives for them to stand in awe, proclaiming the mighty acts of God, and realize all the amazing things He does?

Am I willing to accept anything and everything in my life that will point others to Him?
