EVIDENCE
Today's reading: Luke 23-24

"For the third time he demanded, Why? What crime has he committed? I have found no reason to sentence him to death..." Luke 23:22 NLT

I think Pilate got that the religious officials were jealous of Jesus.

The evidence of crimes committed fell far short of what was convincing enough for the Roman governor to be certain death was due Jesus.

Today's crime labs could have proved Him to be completely innocent.

Truthful witnesses, had they been brought before the jury would have proclaimed this trial to be bogus.

But as I read the passage this morning, I know, from the depths of my heart, that I am the reason He had to die.

Pilate knew nothing of me, nor cared. The religious elite weren't concerned with my future, or any one else's for that matter. The crowd yelling 'Crucify him!' were there for immediate gratification and had no desire to think of the consequences.

But I know the Messiah, the one long-awaited, had to die for me to live.

He had to die for my sins to be forgiven.

He had to give up His life for me to know Him eternally.

I'm standing here this morning, the reason Jesus had to die.
