THE ROCK
Today`s reading: Isaiah 23-28

``Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal rock.`` Isaiah 26:4 NLT

My parents have a picture of a magnificent lighthouse hanging over their mantle. It is a canvas made from a photo from their recent trip to Maine.

The lighthouse is stately. It is well kept. It stands out against the sea.

The lighthouse is nice, but the lighthouse is a fragile thing. Built well?Yes, it has stood sentinel for many years, but fragile none the less.

A hurricane or a tsunami could easily reduce the crafted beacon into a pile of broken, splintered timbers.

What I find most impressive about their picture, especially after reading today`s verse is the rock on which it stands.

Nothing will move the rock foundation it is built upon.

The waves do not move it.

The storms do not shift it.

The days and nights, weeks and months, the changing seasons can do nothing to change its location or its steadfastness.

That is our God.

Our circumstances do nothing to His character. Our emergencies do not shake the foundations of His holiness. Our poor choices and moments of doubts do not cause Him to shiver or shake.

He is our Rock. Our Eternal Rock on which we can build our lives.
