MY REAL ILLNESS
Today's reading: Isaiah 1-6
"Why do you continue to invite punishment? Must you rebel forever? Your head is injured, and your heart is sick." Isaiah 1:5 NLT
Isaiah is found passing along a message from God to the children of Israel. The country God birthed. The people God protected. The nation God set aside as holy. The ones God selected as His own.
Speaking through Isaiah, He told them their heads were injured and their hearts sick. It was from these injuries and illness sin was seeping into their lives--and piling guilt onto their shoulders.
If I think about it, their diagnosis is my diagnosis.
Wrong thinking from an injured head.
Distorted feelings from a heart that isn't aligned with its Creator.
Lack of knowledge.
Wrong desires.
Accepting things that are not good for me, or for my faith walk.
Partial to no obedience.
Pushing aside realization in regards to sin in my life.
Half-hearted worship.
Head and heart issues, yes, that's my problem--and your problem--and the problem of the world.
The Good News is, we have a Great Physician!
