TODAY OF ALL DAYS
Today's reading: Deuteronomy 7-9
"The Lord did not choose you and lavish his love on you because you were larger or greater than other nations, for you were the smallest of nations. It was simply because the Lord loves you..." Deuteronomy 7:7-8 NLT
I love Mondays.
I love the feeling of a fresh start. A new week. A brand new opportunity to attack and conquer those goals I set--and was soundly defeated by, last week. Mondays offer new hope and a renewed excitement about going out into the world.
That being said, this Monday morning is having a rough start.
I'm not liking what I'm seeing in the mirror. I'm not happy about how little I got done over the weekend. I'm not thrilled to see the sinkful of dishes glaring at me. I'm not excited, in the least, that the jeans I chose for this morning fit a little more snugly that I'd like. I'm off-kilter as my usually scheduled morning routine has had a few glitches in it--and it's only 5:30 a.m.
Today, of all days, I'm so glad God chose to remind me of why He sent His Son to die on the cross for me. Why my sins were of such interest to Him. Why He decided on a plan that would rescue me from death and conquer what I couldn't on my own.
I needed it this morning.
I claim it as a special note from my Father to my heart--one I'm going to keep with me all day!
