WHAT AM I DOING?
Today's reading: Mark 11-12
"When they arrived back in Jerusalem, Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out the merchants and their customers. He knocked over the tables of the money changers and the stalls of those selling doves and he stopped everyone from bringing in merchandise. He taught them, The Scriptures declare, My Temple will be called a place of prayer for all nations, but you have turned it into a den of thieves." Mark 11:15-17 NLT
As I prepare, physically, mentally and spiritually for the Lord's Day, I think it's very important that I stop to account for what I am doing to the Lord's Temple.
What attitude will I bring inside its walls?
What encouragement will I disperse?
Whose presence will I consider to be most important tomorrow--mine or His?
Jesus had a problem with the 'sellers' and the 'buyers' at the Temple. Both were changing His House into something to benefit their greater good, not glorify God. Both sides sought to profit, not to praise. The 'sellers' offered a bargain, the 'buyers' snatched them up--neither wanting to put much effort or expense into getting what they wanted.
It's something I really need to think about before setting foot in my house of worship, maybe you do, too.
