BECAUSE
Today's reading:  1 Chronicles 5-9

"They cried out to God during the battle, and he answered their prayer because they trusted in him..."  1 Chronicles 5:20 NLT

The battle doesn't surprise us.  We've been told to expect it.  We live in a foreign land and we're just pilgrims passing through on our way to bigger, better and eternal things.

The enemy doesn't surprise us.  We've been told to expect him.  We became his rival the moment Christ's blood washed us clean.  He doesn't like clean people.  He doesn't like forgiven people.  He doesn't like God's people.

What surprises us is that God answers!

Our hearts are lifted when we see His hand at work in the battle.

Our spirits are revived when we realize He is with us on the battlefield.

Our strength is renewed when we realize our mustard-seed-sized faith is what drew Him near to us.

Our faith is intensified, enlarged and growing when we realize He has answered because we believed He would!

What a mighty God we serve!  What a mighty God we serve.  Angels bow before Him.  Heaven and earth adore Him.  What a mighty God we serve!
