WALKERS
Today's reading: Proverbs 13

"Whoever walks with the wise will become wise, whoever walks with fools will suffer harm." Proverbs 13:20 NLT

My friend, Karen, and I have a standing appointment to walk three mornings a week. While many others are still snoozing, we're cardiovascularly challenging ourselves--and talking (when we can breathe) up a storm.

I've seen this verse play out in our walks. Karen is wise. I've gleaned a lot of knowledge from her on our early morning dates. She's a Mom of two boys who are older than my son, so I'm taking notes as to what might work when Isaiah reaches the age her boys are. I've gotten a few recipes from her on our walks. I've even been given a few pointers for my flower garden as we huff and puff our way up and down the road. I've also burned a few extra calories trying to keep up with her very long strides.

Now that I think of it, is she gaining any wisdom from me? Is this a one-sided relationship? Does she grow as a person from time spent with me?

Is anyone I sidle up beside growing wiser, in the things of life or the things of God? My child? My co-workers? My checker at the grocery?
