AMAZING MERCY
Today's reading: Ezekiel 19-24
Would you agree with me that the song 'Amazing Grace' is probably the most sung hymn? That's it the theme of the church? That it's associated more times than we can imagine with God's people--even by those who are not?
Grace is certainly something to be celebrated, in song and in life, but ever thought about mercy?
"You will know that I am the Lord, O people of Israel, when I have honored my name by treating you mercifully in spite of your wickedness, says the Sovereign Lord." Ezekiel 20:44
Amazing mercy. Now that's something to think about...
Mercy is what's kept any one of us from being nothing but a burn mark on the concrete of life. Mercy is what's allowed us life. Mercy is what's offered us hope--despite ourselves! Mercy is what showcases God's most wonderful attributes among the lowliest of species--us.
Mercy is what He extends when we've pushed Him to his limit, turned our backs on Him one too many times and chosen to ignore His commands--those written in His Word and those He speaks to our hearts.
Mercy is what He's dealt us. Mercy is far from what we deserve. Mercy is. well, mercy is amazing--wouldn't you agree?
