PLEASE TELL ME
Today's reading: 1 Samuel 21-25
"...O Lord, God of Israel, please tell me." 1 Samuel 23:11 NLT
In this verse David seeks the Lord's guidance.
But to know the importance of his ask, you must know a little background...
David was a hunted man.
King Saul had begun scouring the land for David in order to kill him.
David was considered the scourge of the earth by those still loyal to Saul and he could trust no one.
David wanted to do right by God, and right by Saul--and David wanted to stay alive.
So in the running for his life...
In the hiding out from his enemy...
In the constantly watching his back...
In the living in the shadows...
David pauses to seek the Lord for direction.
Do we do that? Do we seek God for the next step, the right choice, the proper response or godly decision?
Oh, we're busy. We are overwhelmed with things to do. We are flittering from one task to the next. We are serving on committees, serving our families, serving our Lord--but are we pausing long enough to ask Hid guidance?
Please tell me, David asked.
A good example for us all.
