IN A SAFE PLACE

Today's reading: Psalm 30-32

"I am overcome with joy because of your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul. You have not handed me over to my enemy but have set me in a safe place." Psalm 30:7-8 NLT

In my neck of the woods, we are entering into a time of the year called, Tornado Season. As a matter of fact, the area in which we live is under a tornado watch for the next 24 hours or so.

We are making sure things are secure in the yard and on the porch. We are clearing out our little 'safe corner', in case we need to take shelter. We are gathering up all the flashlights and batteries, and making sure our phones are charged up.

These 'watches', or 'warnings', can lead to fear, anxiety and nervousness.

How do I cope?

How do I cope as a gal who has always had a fear of bad weather?

How do I cope as a gal who has always had a fear of bad weather and believes in God?

I crank up the praise music!

Oh, I'm not saying I hum my little hymns as I stand on the front stoop defying the winds--but I do keep the right words singing in my ears so that my fearful thoughts don't overwhelm me!

You see, even in the 'watches' of our lives, we can celebrate God's unfailing love for us.

We can sing knowing He cares for the anxious parts of our hearts.

We can rejoice in the fact that He does not hand us over to our fears--but sets us in a safe place!

We can praise Him before, during and after the storms of life.
