PRAYER OF DEDICATION
Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 6-10
"He prayed, O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like you in all of heaven and earth. You keep your promises and show unfailing love to all who obey you and are eager to do your will." 2 Chronicles 6:14 NLT
King Solomon had built an ornate temple for the Lord's ark and Spirit to reside in.
On this day in our Bible reading, that Temple was being dedicated.
As I read the first few lines of Solomon's dedication prayer, I'm led to believe his words, God honoring and God seeking, might help us all today.
Have you ever thought about, first thing in the morning, dedicating your day to the Lord?
Praising Him.
Thanking Him.
Reminding yourself of His desire that we serve Him, and Him alone.
Asking for an eagerness to do His will.
Our days start the moment our feet hit the floor--what if our first act of the day was to pray a prayer of dedication?
Giving the day to the Lord. Turning our attention to Him. Honoring Him before anything else gets in the way.
While Solomon's dedication festivities were grand and spectacular, even the most humbled prayer prayed in the wee hours of the morning, before the world wakes up, with sleep still in our eyes, can be heard by our Lord God!
