THE GIFT OF LOVE

Today's reading: 1 Corinthians 13-14

"Let love be your highest goal, but also desire the special abilities the Spirit gives, especially the gift of prophecy." 1 Corinthians 14:1 NLT

Paul writes about spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians 12. He writes about love in 1 Corinthians 13. He restates and prioritizes both in 1 Corinthians 14.

Spiritual abilities are good.

Love is better.

What good does it do the unsaved world if we don't express love to them. A love that is an imperfect reproduction of the love Christ showed for them on the cross.

Desire to preach. Yearn to teach. Give as you are called to do. Counsel through God's Word. Heal, if healing is your gift.

But above and beyond these, love.

Love in your words.

Love in your actions.

Love in your attitude.

Love when in church.

Love when in the world.

Love on the pretty days.

Love harder on the rough days.

Love those who are lovely.

Love those who are unlovable.

Let love be your highest goal.
