WHAT SEEMS RIGHT
Today's reading: Judges 17-19

"In those days Israel had no king, so the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes." Judges 17:6 NLT

I have to confess: If it were up to me and if I were to be basing all I did right now on 'what seemed right in my own eyes', I would be holed up somewhere remote with those I dearly love. Maybe in a self-dug bunker surrounded with 10 foot high fencing and stocked with my Bible, a couple months worth of Little Debbie's snack cakes, Germ-X...and toilet paper.

If my actions were based upon my feelings, it would reflect a very self-centered nature I would be owning up to.

I would be focusing on me and mine. A very small circle of people closest to me.

But I'm not called to do that. As a matter of fact, the Word of God shows me time and time again that my feelings cannot be trusted to rule my life or my deeds.

So I must act upon faith, instead of fear.

I must choose being safe over being scared.

I have to reach out with the Good News of Christ instead of distancing myself from others.

I have to be sensible, smart and led by God.

Right now, I cannot do 'whatever seems right in my own eyes', because my eyes aren't seeing the whole picture--and the part of the picture I'm seeing is a blurry mess!

Besides, I have a King!
