TRIGGERS
Today's reading: Deuteronomy 24-25
"Never forget what the Amalekites did to you as you came from Egypt. They attacked you when you were exhausted and weary..." Deuteronomy 25:17-18 NLT
Today they're called, 'triggers'.
Things that cause you to pause and take note of one's surroundings, feelings, prior experiences and use that information to make wiser, more informed decisions than during the time before.
In the case of the Israelites, it was the Amalekites. It was weariness. It was during a time when their faith in God was lacking--and their faith in themselves soared.
God asked them to remember that time. Remember that feeling. Remember those circumstances. Remember those people.
Maybe He is asking you to take note today.
Of how you feel.
Of how busy you have allowed yourself to become.
Of where your focus is.
Of whose, or Whose, strength you are depending upon.
Of what's going on around you that reminds you of a time just before you did a downward spiral and fell flat on your face.
Never forget. Don't dwell, but never forget. It's a learning curve He is allowing us all!
