HOW CLOSELY
Today's reading: Judges 20:24-21:25, Luke 22:31-54, Psalm 77:12-20
"So they arrested him and led him to the high priest's residence, and Peter was following far behind." Luke 22:54 NLT
Ever heard the quote, 'Distance decreases accuracy."?
Think about it...
The farther away from a basketball goal, the less likely you can make a shot.
The farther away from a hole, the less likely you can make a putt.
The farther away from a target, the less likely you'll make a bullseye.
And in reading today's Scripture passage and knowing how the account of Peter ends, it also applies to our walks with God.
The farther behind Him we follow, the less likely holiness will be our first response when trouble arises.
The farther behind Him we follow, the less likely self-control will be our choice.
The farther behind Him we follow, the less likely we will see the opportunity to share the Gospel, the love of God or the smile He might have given us for the situation at hand.
So today I'm asking you to do what I'm going to do myself--see how closely we're following Jesus!
