TALK
Today's reading: 1 Corinthians 14-16

"And it's the same for you. If you talk to people in a language they don't understand, how will they know what you mean? You might as well be talking to an empty room." 1 Corinthians 14:9 NLT

Talk-to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken words; to convey information or communicate in any way; to use speech.

I need to watch my language.

No--before you think I have trouble with cursing, I don't...I have trouble using 'churchy' words when I talk to unbelievers.

I use words like grace. Like mercy. Like salvation. Like repentance.

And they look at me in a clueless way.

I've got to watch what I say to them. I've got to speak in terms of the world, their issues and their needs. I've got to share the Gospel in some way other than what I have found the Gospel to be. In a way that points them to it as a life preserver!

I've got to talk their talk while I share my story. Jesus did when He spoke to the farmers, to the fishermen, to the higher-ups of the religious society--even to the woman caught in the act of adultery.

It's going to take some thinking on my part. It's going to require that I trust God to lead my words. It's going to be that maybe, just maybe, I don't say anything at all.

Or that I say, I don't know.

Or that I don't understand it either.

But I have to talk in a language they can understand!
