THE DAY OF THE LORD
Today's reading: Joel

"...The day of the Lord is an awesome, terrible thing. Who can endure it? That is why the Lord says, Turn to me now, while there is time!.." Joel 2:11-12 NLT

We don't think about the day of the Lord being a terrible thing.

The hymns don't tell us that...

They have us singing about the sky splitting open, the Bridegroom returning, the end of wars, the end of death, the end of heartaches.

They include in their lyrics mention of streets of gold, gates of pearl and rivers of life.

And that's all fine and good...for the believers.

For His believers.

For the ones who have accepted Christ a their personal and saving Lord.

For the rest?

For the rest, it will be a terrible day. A day when their torment begins. A day when true separation starts. A day when they wish they would have died.

So God tells us, Turn to Him now.

We may not have the time to turn later.

We don't know when that day will come.
