MY WORDS
Today's reading: 2 Samuel 1-4
"...God only know what would have happened if you hadn't spoken..." 2 Samuel 2:27 NLT
The first few chapters of 2 Samuel give us details of one of David's many battles.
Saul has just died and the northern and southern tribes of the land were set against each other in a big way. Tensions were high. Revenge looked sweet. Loyalties were up for grabs. Getting even was a common theme.
The verse that jumped off the page at me was spoken by Joab, one of David's fighting men, in regards to the death of Asahel. These words soothed. These words stopped a possible bloodshed. These words caused retreat.
They are a reminder of the power of our words.
Of my words.
Of your words.
How will we use them today? What will come of the words God leads us to say? Whose life might be changed today because we choose to speak for Him?
God only knows.
