CAREFULLY
Today's reading:  Joshua 11-15

"...And Joshua did as he was told, carefully obeying all of the Lord's instructions..."  Joshua 11:15 NLT

Some mornings certain words jump off the pages of my Bible and land squarely on my heart. 

This morning it happened.

I was/am focused not on the who--or the what--or the when--but the how.

Joshua obeyed carefully.

Of all the adverbs God could have chosen in regards to how Joshua did what he was told to do, God used 'carefully'.

Not comfortably.

Not religiously.

Not spontaneously.

Not zealously.

Not externally.

God chose to use 'carefully'.  He chose to use a word that would portray active participation, a sense of value, a choice made cautiously and wisely, deliberately.

I want to obey God carefully.  I want to obey Him carefully in the big things He asks of me and in the little things He asks--the times He allows me to build muscles in preparation for the harder things.

Carefully.
