Today's reading:  Joel

In short, the book of Joel tells of tells of the fear, destruction and enslavement Jerusalem can expect to endure due to their leaving the Lord and following after other gods.

It mentions plagues of locusts--cutting locusts, swarming locusts and hopping locusts.

It talks of famine--no grapes, no grain, no figs.

It talks of hunger for all--the people and the animals.

It talks of fear.

And death.

The worst part, however?

"...There are no joyful celebrations in the house of the Lord."  Joel 1:16 NLT

That's heartbreaking.

It's a call to arms, children of God, to make sure all idols and sins are pushed far out of our lives.  We have to stay true to God!
