FAME
Today's reading:  Joshua 6-10

"So the Lord was with Joshua, and his name became famous throughout the land."  Joshua 6:27 NLT

Leader of two million.  Quite a title.

Create a game plan that lasted seven days--and instilled the use of horns and hollers.  Quite an organizer.

Conquer the most battle ready city of the time.  Quite impressive.

I know what the verse says, but I don't think Joshua was the one they were whispering about throughout the land.

Joshua obeyed.  God did.

Joshua listened.  God provided the power.

Joshua stirred up the enthusiasm in the Israelites.  God provided the hope.

It wasn't as much about Joshua as it was about God.

This pride-filled writer needed a gentle reminder of that this morning.  Well, quite a few mornings, that is. 

How easily we can mistake, misread or misunderstand something that's said as a compliment we can take pride in, when all the time, God deserves all the praise!
