STANDARDS FOR THE PEOPLE

Today's reading: Leviticus 16-18

"Then the Lord said to Moses, Say this to your people the Israelites: I, the Lord, am your God. So do not act like the people in Egypt, where you used to live, or like the people of Canaan, where I am taking you. You must not imitate their way of life." Leviticus 18:1-4 NLT

The world says, imitation is the highest form of flattery.

(Mind you, according to these verses, God said it first.)

Who do you mimic? Whose life do you fashion your own after? Who is your role model?

We cannot follow the ways of the world, our 'old man', as Paul calls it.

We also cannot imitate the world we live in, as it's not our home.

We follow after the example of our God!

Perfectly? No way!

Intentionally? Yes!

We pour over His Word looking for His instructions.

We dig into the life of His Son, Jesus, as to how he did it while here on earth.

We allow the Holy Spirit free rein in our hearts and minds as it guides us into all right living.

And when we do it? When we do it, we will stand out in the crowd. We will be salt in a flavorless world and light in a dark time.
