FIRST THINGS FIRST

Today's reading: Exodus 17-20

"I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in Egypt." Exodus 20:2 NLT

Before God ever gives His people the ten commandments, He restates who He is and what He had done for them.

It places value to His words.

It puts importance to His commands.

It focuses their attention on the authority with which He gives them.

It reminds them of His power.

It premises all He asks of them with all He has done for them.

It puts first things first. 

Every morning when we rise, we should be reminded of those same words--before the day opens up to us, before problems arise, before our minds gets distracted from Him.
