LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT HIM

Today's reading: Acts 17-18

"So Paul, standing before the Council, addressed them as follows: Men of Athens, I notice you are very religious, for as I was walking along I saw your many altars. And one of them had this inscription on it--To an Unknown God. You have been worshiping him without knowing who he is, and now I wish to tell you about him." Acts 17:22-23 NLT

Paul stood where we stand today, amidst a whole lot of religious people.

Those who are knee-deep in religious practices, religious disciplines and religious speech.

And just as true as in Paul's day, these religious acts leave those around us as empty as ever.

Because religion doesn't accomplish anything in the heart.

It checks off boxes.

It completes the list.

It does all there is to do to impress those around us.

But religion doesn't fulfill.

Paul desired, that day in Athens, to introduce these religious men to God. The One True God.

What about you? Are you busying yourself with 'church stuff' but don't have time for Jesus?

Are you signed up for every single church committee, but don't have time to spend in prayer and in God's Word?

Are you ticking off the boxes in a religious experience, but don't know, really know, this Unknown God you say you are serving?

Give up religion for relationship.

Get to know God, as Savior, Friend, Comforter, Shepherd and Life.
