LIVING OUT YOUR OBITUARY

Today's reading: Job 41-42

"Job lived 140 years after that, living to see four generations of his children and grandchildren. Then he died, an old man who had lived a long, good life." Job 42:16-17 NLT

Do you read obituaries? Either in the newspaper, or online? Do you ever have the occasion to peruse the 150 words or less accounts of the lives lead by recently deceased people?

They are interesting.

They are eye-opening.

And sometimes, for those who lived life the hardest and deepest, they are inspiring.

Had Job only been known for his 'Job-years', that would have been a mere chapter in the story of his life.

His final days, surely accounted for in his 'obituary', would have pointed folks to the faithfulness and love of God the Father for him.

We all are writing our obituaries as we live.

We're living out what will be recorded of our lives.

We are breathing into our life accounts with every choice.

What's your obituary saying about you so far?

God follower?

Independent?

Successful according to the measuring sticks of the world?

Faith filled and spilling over?
