POOR JOB
Today's reading: Job 3-4

"What I always feared has happened to me. What I dreaded has come to be." Job 3:25 NLT

When I think of Job and all that he endured, I cringe.

I cannot imagine the pain and suffering he endured so that I could learn from the book named after him.

I cannot fathom the intensity of hurt he experienced at the hand of God and at the hands of his closest, most well intending friends.

I cannot, for the life of me, allow for a moment the thought of any one of my worst nightmares coming to life--let alone all of them at once.

And yet, when I peer deeper into Job's life, I see more.

Much more.

I see greater grace.

A broader brushstroke of God's artistic license on the pages of His testimony than on anyone else's.

Yes, what he most feared happened--but what he never could have ever imagined happened, too.

The loss. The gain.

The hurt. The healing.

The taking. The giving of much, much more.
