REAL HELP

Today's reading: 1 Corinthians 13-14

"Since you are so eager to have spiritual gifts, ask God for those that will be of real help to the whole church." 1 Corinthians 14:12 NLT

I'd love to be able to sing in a way that amazes and draws people to God.

I'd like to have the gift of speech that enthralls, convicts and encourages large auditoriums of people.

I'd be thrilled to teach in a way that enlightens and inspires the Word of God.

I'd like to have a heart that gives with no strings attached, prays with power and loves no matter what.

Those gifts would surely be of help to the Church!

But in order to have, seek and receive those gifts, I need to put me aside.

I can't desire the applause more than the moving of the Spirit.

I can't seek the spotlight more than the Light of the World.

I can't teach in an effort to impress others with my knowledge.

I can't give for recognition, pray for personal gain or love only those who love me.

So I must ask God to make me aware of the gifts He has given me that will reach others for Him.

I have to request that He put my personal needs and wants on the back burner.

I need to humble myself before the One who has higher, grander, bigger, more encompassing plans than I do.

That's how I will be used to help the Church!
