CHECK YOUR FRIENDSHIPS

Today's reading: Luke 23-24

"Herod and Pilate, who had been enemies before, became friends that day." Luke 23:12 NLT

The common denominator in Herod and Pilate's new friendship was that they had condemned and rejected Jesus.

How sad.

To have a friendship that, at its center, was based upon turning their backs on a True Friend.

I would gasp in disbelief. I might even shake my head in the shame of it all. I could even tssk-tssk their choices, but I'll be completely honest--some days I do the same thing.

As sad as it is, there are days when my choices bend me towards the friendship of the world and not of Christ.

My words, at times, betray any relationship I have with my Savior.

My fears do not portray the trust my best Friend's track record should instill in my heart.

How quickly, in tough times, inconvenient times, rough times, and times that don't go my way, I turn my back on the friendship I have with my Savior.

And when I do? When I choose another friend?

I'm left with the likes of a Pilate, or a Herod.
