Today's reading: Proverbs 20-21

"Wise speech is rarer and more valuable that gold and rubies." Proverbs 20:15 NLT

Ever heard the phrase, 'Quality is better than quantity'?

Isn't that what Solomon is leading us to believe in this proverb he has collected?

One can say a lot...a whole lot. Spouting out opinions. Offering free advice. Critiques. Criticisms. Cutting remarks. Useless words.

But when one who is wise speaks, everyone listens. They pause. They lean in. They value the gems spoken aptly and appropriately.

I'm considering the words I say this morning as I prepare for the day ahead.

I talk too much...and say too little of importance.

I'm asking God to make my words filled with wisdom--and rarer than the precious stones Solomon knew so much about!
