TURN MY BACK

Today's reading: Proverbs 1

"My child, if sinners entice you, turn your back on them!" Proverbs 1:10 NLT

It's not as hard as I think...

Saying 'no'.

It starts with an idea--one that usually doesn't settle well within my spirit.

Or a thought that seemingly hides in the shadows of shame.

Or an urge that I know doesn't need fulfilled.

Or a temptation that hangs before me with as much allure as Eve's 'apple'.

I know when it's sin.

That's not the problem.

Telling myself to just say 'no' is where I have the hang-up.

It's not easy.

It's not fun.

It's not a natural bent of mine to deny myself.

But if I just say 'NO'.

Or 'Nope!'

Or 'Not this time.'

Or even 'No way, Hosea!'

If I would just turn my back on the temptation, the thought, the idea or the opportunity...I'll be doing the will of God.
