 RED WRITINGS

Today's reading: John 16-18

"O righteous Father, the world doesn't know you, but I do..." John 17:25 NLT

I won't be so bold as to know on a theological level just what Jesus was feeling when He spoke these words, but as a fellow world-inhabitor...I get what He is saying.

I've had to say those same words to myself, and in prayer, on many occasions.

Because this world is a tough place to live.

It's a hard environment to be Christ-like in.

It's, as beautiful as He created it, dirty and dark and infected with sin.

So, in several circumstances and in regards to several dealings with some of His created ones, I've had to say it to myself...

God, the world doesn't know You, but I do.

In regards to some of the things I'm living and hurting through, I've had to repeat...

God, the world doesn't know You, but I do.

To my enemy's tempting suggestions to just throw in the towel and give up all hope, I've had to stand up and shout...

I know You, God!

And what I know about Him is this: He can be trusted!
