WOULD HE BE ENOUGH?
Today’s reading: Ezekiel 43-48
Would you continue to go to your job knowing there’d be no paycheck at the end of the week? Probably not. There’s something about Friday’s envelope that drives you to tolerate cranky bosses and grumpy customers, am I right?
Would your kids still take out the trash knowing there’d be no allowance or extra video game minutes to reward them? I think we all know the answer. Oh sure, I’d like to think the 9 year-old residing in our home pulls his weight because of love and admiration for his parents, but truth be told I think the value of the all-mighty dollar influences him a little more.
Would you keep on keeping on in regards to your Christian walk if you knew at the end of the day the only thing you’d have is Christ?
Would He be enough?
“As to property, the priests will not have any, for I am their inheritance.” Ezekiel 44:28 NLT
If no more blessings came your way, would you continue to serve? If you found out the meek inherited nothing, the poor stayed poor and the peacemakers got punched in the gut each and every time?
If no other prayers were answered, would He still receive your praise? If He did nothing, absolutely nothing for you? If the temptations were stronger than you could bear and the weight of the world heavier than your shoulders could muster?
If heaven were not promised, would you still follow? Would you still sign up to serve in His army? Would you still sing the songs and believe the words?
Would God, and God alone, be enough?
