SPREAD
Today's reading: Isaiah 37-39

"After Hezekiah received the letter and read it, he went up to the Lord's Temple and spread it out before the Lord. And Hezekiah prayed..." Isaiah 37:14-15 NLT

Spread-to break into pieces; to open or expand; to stretch out; to become dispersed, distributed or scattered.

King Hezekiah had some heavy stuff written to him in this letter he now held in his hands.

Information that would touch not only his life, but the lives of all those around him.

News that might have kept him in bed, with the covers pulled up over his head.

But instead, he took what he knew and spread it all out before God.

He took it piece by piece and presented it to the One who could either fix it all, or calm his heart in regards to it.

He placed all the ugly parts of the current situation in front of God.

Nothing hidden.

Nothing withheld.

Nothing stuffed away until it looked better or sounded nicer.

Nothing kept from him because he thought it was what he deserved.

He spread it all out before God.

And spread out before God in 'little pieces' it seemed less heavy, less overwhelming, less impossible.

Maybe, just maybe, you have some things you need to spread out before God today.
