 WHO HOLDS THE REINS?

Today's reading: Romans 7-8

"...But if the Holy Spirit controls your mind, there is life and peace." Romans 8:6 NLT

I'm doing a quick, prayerful assessment of my heart and mind this morning as I think over the volumes spoken in this small portion of this verse.

I'm pondering conversations I've had--with others and with myself.

I'm questioning intentions with which I have served--and been served.

I'm asking myself to consider the 'why's' and 'how's' of the things I'm agreeing to do--and those I've said 'no' to.

I'm reasoning over how I spend my time, my energies and my resources.

I'm reflecting on all that vies for my attention throughout the day--and night--and while I sit under the teaching of the Word.

I'm analyzing what steals my joy, robs me of peace and destroys my faith.

Who, or what, is controlling me?

Who, or what, holds the reins to my actions, thoughts, deeds and words?

If it isn't the Holy Spirit, then I have handed the control over to those who will not, cannot and don't have a desire to help me at all.
