PEN OF A SKILLFUL POET

Today's reading: Psalm 45-47

"My heart overflows with a beautiful thought! I will recite a lovely poem to the king, for my tongue is like the pen of a skillful poet." Psalm 45:1 NLT

Hmmm...

Is my tongue like the pen of a skillful poet?

Is that what God hears when I open my mouth?

Does He hear beautiful words? Does He hear kind words? Do my words sound like music to His ears?

Or are my words like graffiti sprayed on a dark alley wall?

Or a child's scribbles off the coloring page and onto the dining room table?

Or the scratchy illegible writings from a pen that's not been used in a while?

The choir director that wrote the words of this psalm have certainly got me to thinking about what my words might sound like to the Lord!
