GROWING UP
Today's reading: Ephesians 4-6

"Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about what we believe because someone has told us something different or because someone has cleverly lied to us and made the lie sound like the truth." Ephesians 4:14 NLT

What does it mean to be a grown up?

Does it mean you have a driver's license? A diploma? A 40-hour per week job? A mortgage? A wife/husband? Children?

Does being grown up mean never making mistakes? Never failing? Never falling for temptation?

Paul tells us being mature means knowing the truth and following it.

He says an adult filters through all they hear and can determine fact from fluff, truth from half-truth and what is right from what everyone else is doing.

We're told in this verse that being grown up means carrying a set of scales with us at all time and choosing to weigh what we're being sold against what the Word of the Lord says.

Maybe it's time we, who believe we are adults, consider if we are truly grown-ups or not.
