REALLY LIVING
Today's reading: Hebrews 5-7

"Our great desire is that you will keep right on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent..." Hebrews 6:11-12 NLT

Loving people is hard.

Sure, pink wrinkly babies are easy to love and cookie-baking grandmothers are easy to love, but the rest of the human race--well, it's tough some days.

But God reminds me in the Scripture this morning that loving others, really loving others not just saying I do, will keep me from becoming set in my ways and comfortable in my level of godliness.

People will stretch me. People will cause me to be sanded off in certain areas. People will leave me with wounds. People will bring me to tears. People will drive me deep into the Word of God. People will bring about reason for me to rest on the fact that I've been given the fruit of the Spirit.

I guess it's the closest thing He could do to showing me what it's like to be Him.
